New Theater Season
Nikolai Gogol - Dead Souls (Rus. – Mertvie Dushi). Opening night
«The Dead Souls» musical (after Nikolai Gogol) is a new performance in the repertoire of the theater. The producers Alexandr Pantykin and Konstantin Rubinsky blended the plot of the novel with their own creative ideas and ended up with a new musical custom-made for the theater.

Kirill Strezhnev and his colleagues have cooperated with the translator Tamara Skuy for a long time. She successfully translated a number of European operas and musicals that have been staged in Oleg Tabakov's Theatre in Moscow, Lensovet Theatre, and in local theatres in Russia.
«Devil&Virgin» is a musical by Armando Trovaioli. It was adopted for the Russian audience and named as «Devil&Virgin», though in the original it sounds like «If you could turn back time.»

The Tsar's Bride
Opera in four acts
The Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's opera «The Tsar's Bride» is noteworthy that the decorations are to be made created according to the original stenography and following the traditions of the 1950s - 1960s. The theatre's property men assure that “The Tsar's Bride” in Ekaterinburg is going to be more vivid than in the Bolshoi Theatre. Fabric for the costumes was bought in a church shop in Moscow. People working in the sewing workshop say that only church brocade could successfully imitate tsar's clothes.

«The Swan Lake» - 100th Anniversary of Famous Russian Ballet Dancer Galina Ulanova
«Swan Lake» (Lebedínoye Ózero) - fantasy ballet in three acts, four scenes. Music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
Galina Ulanova - is frequently cited as being one of the greatest 20th Century ballerinas. Ulanova was a great actress as well as dancer, and when she was finally allowed to tour abroad at the age of 46, enraptured British papers wrote that «Galina Ulanova in London knew the greatest triumph of any individual dancer since Anna Pavlova.»
Ulanova was the only dancer to be awarded Hero of Socialist Labour, and she was also awarded the highest exclusively artistic national title, People's Artist of the USSR. She was awarded the Lenin or Stalin Prizes.

Big City Blues 2010 (Russia – US)
The citywide blues festival features Ural and Moscow blues bands including «Blues Doctors,» «Nothing personal,» Vladimir Demyanov and Yuri Kaverkin.
Special guests from the US – Keith Dunn.
Keith's songs address social, economic and political issues as well as the day-to-day themes of life in the XXIst century. Two of his songs, «Strange Things Are Happening» and «Need to Make a Dollar» have received songwriting awards.
Keith Dunn produced the album to «Deep in My Heart for You», recorded in one day, without overdubs. The sound is big, warm and personal. «Alone with the Blues» has the excitement, spontaneity, and passion found only in the classic blues recordings.
Keith presents & promotes his new album in Ekaterinburg’s philharmonic hall. He also performs with Russian blues bands.

Andrew Garn (U.S.)
Andrew Garn is a photographer and curator who lives in New York City.
In 2000, Garn traveled to Russia to photograph the massive Magnitogorsk industrial city in the Ural mountains. The Magnitogorsk («Metal City») plant stretches for over 13 miles and contains hundreds of structures.
His work will be featured in the first Ural Industrial Biennale at the Ekaterinburg Gallery Of Modern Art .

The Ekaterinburg history museum runs an exhibition «City Legends». All museum' displays are concerned with Ekaterinburg old legends and stories, for example, a Soviet newspaper and wall newspapers for Ural factories’ workers.

The Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts
Back in USSR - Soviet Art in 1960-1980ss
Socialist Realism & Soviet Nonconformist Art – the main topics of the exhibition. The history of the Soviet art in the period of 1960-1980 was dominated by politics and simplistic formulae. Both within the art world and the general public, very little consideration has been given to the aesthetic character of the work produced in the USSR. Instead, the official and unofficial art of the period usually stood in for either «bad» or «good» political developments. A more nuanced picture would emphasize that there were numerous competing groups making art in Moscow and Leningrad throughout this period.

The Helmet - Schlem - Gallery
Soviet & American Fighters In WWII (Joint Russia-US Project)
The exhibition devoted to Soviet P-39 aces, those Russian pilots who flew the Bell Airacobra. Among them was Gregory Andreevich Rechkalov, born in the town of Irbit, the Sverdlovsk region. He had 56 victories.
Russian pilots flew the Airacobra as «air superiority fighters,» and at the low to medium altitudes of air combat on the Eastern Front, they did so with considerable success, against German Fw-190s and Bf-109s.
The leading Airacobra aces, Alexandr Pokryshkin and Grigory Rechkalov finished the war with 59 and 56 aerial victories correspondingly, were awarded as the Hero of the Soviet Union.
The exhibition is open for public till September 30th, Thursday.

Russian Rock Singer Gregory Leps
Grigory Leps created a unique style mixing between rock music, pop music, and in his early career chanson. Known for his low strength voice with long-range vocals.
Grigory Leps suffered from alcoholism and drug addiction, and to get far from that life he went to Moscow. There to he started singing in restaurants, until he received a record deal, and in 1995 he released the album «May God Keep You.»
The song “Natali” became a huge hit, but he didn’t know that because he was hospitalized for drugs and alcoholism. The doctors told him one more drop of any of them can kill him completely.
In 2000 he met Anya, a dancer in the Laima Vaikule ballet who became his wife. At the same time he lost his voice, and went thru an operation.
In 2002 he released the album «On Strings Of Rain» with a major hit «Shot of Vodka On the Table».

DJ Tiesto
The world-famous Dutch musician, DJ and record producer. Tiesto was named «World’s No.1 DJ» 3 consecutive times by DJ Magazine from 2002 through 2004. In 2004 at the Summer Olympics he performed live at the opening ceremony in Athens, Greece, becoming the first DJ to play live on stage at an Olympics. In April 2007 Tiesto launched both his radio show Tiesto's Club Life on Radio 538 in the Netherlands and released his third studio album titled «Elements of Life.» The album reached number one on the Dutch album chart as well on «Billboard Top Electronic Albums» in the U.S. and received a nomination for a Grammy Award in 2008.
